Labyrinth Journal

labyrinths-journal.png

Join us as we keep a journal of what is happening in our labyrinths and happening to us as we walk them. Each day presents a gift of change - some we choose and some that are chosen for us.  The labyrinths add something to our lives each day. A past walk is never done - it becomes part of a growing experience!

November 28

This was my first walk after Thanksgiving. It has been a few days since being the Chartres labyrinth. With the change in the weather, much has change, while so much is still the same.  At first I was disappointed in how brown the paths had become. But the loss became a gain.

  • When the paths were lush with summer growth, so much was hidden - life that wanted to be seen, but could not have its space now has plenty of room.  It revels in being a star attraction.
  • Plants are changing into their winter forms - still amazing in their natural beauty. They are a reminder to appreciate beauty of a life in all its stages.
  • There is totally new growth on a path that struggled to gain a ground cover. Wow - plush, soft, and green. Although I an't wait to see it in the spring, it is complete in the moment. It is one of the prettiest patches. I flet like it was saying "See what I did all by myself." Pictures to follow.

The chimes ring out! It seems they are easier to hear. They seem to wait for me to come near, and then sing out. Their simple act of sharing in the dying back of what is around them is a reminder to sing out with joy no matter what may be happening aoround us. Stay true to our own song - our own purpose. It will be heard  and make a difference!

I had a chance to return to the Chartres. It is going to rain today, but I was able to get here early. Sitting in the center, I was overwhelmed by the how defined the paths have become. They have established themselves after fighting so hard create an identity - the new and old learning to live today.

We are busy planning for the large "structural" plantings in the Chartres labyrinth. Our goal is to have a tree canopy of everygreens and deciduous for the center. The top branches will be joined together. It will take several years, but as with all goals, starting is what makes it happen.
